Answer
According to the Vedas, Shri Krishna is the Supreme Father. His most recent descension was 5,000 years ago. Both these statements are true. Startling? It can be. But read along to see how these seemingly contradictory statements are true.
According to the Vedic scriptures, the concept of time is not linear. It is cyclical in nature. While these cycles of time are beyond our human understanding, without a solid understanding of tattvagyan, it is not possible to stay steadfast on the path of spirituality. So, let us shed some light on the concept of time.
As was stated earlier, time is cyclical, not linear. Just as a day is made up of smaller cycles of hours, minutes, and seconds, so too is the creation of the universe. There are larger cycles that last for trillions of years.
The Vedas describe these cycles in detail. There are 4 yugas, the shortest of them being kali-yuga, which is 432,000 years. Dwapar-yuga is twice the length of kali-yuga. Treta-yuga is three times the length of kali-yuga.Sat-yuga is four times the length of kali-yuga. Together they are called chatur-yuga (also called mahayuga), which lasts 4,320,000 years.
71 chatur-yuga make up a manvantar, which lasts for 306,720,000 years. There are 14 manvantar in a kalp, which lasts for 4,294,080,000,000 years.
One kalp is one day of Brahma, the creator of the universe. His night is also equally long.
In every dwapar-yuga, Shri Krishn descends on Earth. He performs the Mahabharat and several other leelas depicting His grandeur and majesty. However, in these incarnations, He does not bestow the highest bliss of Maharaas upon the souls. He is Yugavatar Shri Krishna. Only once in a kalp, at the end of 28th dwapar or the 7th manvantar, the Supreme Lord Shri Krishna Himself descends with Shri Radha Rani.
In this descension, Yugavatar Shri Krishn embeds Himself inside The Supreme Lord. When it is time to leave Braj to perform His other leelas, the Yugavatar Shri Krishna leaves Braj, whereas the Supreme Brahm Shri Krishna continues to stay in Braj. While in Braj, He does nothing but bestow love upon deserving souls.
One year in the life span of Brahma, the creator of the universe, includes 360 days and the equal number of nights. His total life span is 100 such years. After that time, Him and His brahmand both merge into the Supreme Lord.
Since God has descended many times before this time, in the beginning of each creation creator Lord Brahma reveals itihas (Mahabharat, Ramayan), Puranas and Vedas to His children. Remember, after Maharaas Shri Krishna told gopis to go back and listen to Shrimad Bhagawat Mahapuran.
A skeptic might counter that with... "but Ved Vyas had not yet written Bhagawat! What would they listen to?"
That is not the case. God is eternal and so are His pastimes. Bhagawat Mahapuran is a compilation of the pastimes of Shri Krishna. Since Shri Krishna is eternal, so is Bhagawat. 5000 years ago Ved Vyas wrote down some of Shri Krishna's pastimes to help the people in kali-yuga. He did not create them anew.
All of these rules and creations emerge from Brahm, the Supreme Lord. The Vedas define the Supreme Lord as Shri Krishna. So, Krishna is the Supreme Father. He is timeless, eternal, and the source of all creations, all souls and all descensions of God.
Prior to every creation, there has been another creation. Also, after every creation, there will be another creation. Although Shri Krishna has descended on Earth countless times, His most recent descension was 5,000 years ago. This was neither the first time He descended nor will it be the last.
The apparent contradiction between Shri Krishna's descent 5,000 years ago and His status as the Supreme Father of all is dissolved when we transcend the limitations of our human perception of time.
