Daily Devotion -May 3, 2026 (English)- Act Now

Only a fortunate few in the world walk towards God. Among them, a few are fortunate enough to find a genuine saint. And even among them, a lucky few attain philosophical knowledge. Even after attaining all these fortunes, if we haven't achieved our goal, there is a reason for that - procrastination.

In worldly matters, we do not delay. Be it attachment, hatred, causing harm, or abusing others, we act immediately. However, when it comes to engaging in devotional practice, we procrastinate, using excuses such as education, marriage, children, or grandchildren. People first say that, once they retire, they will only practice devotion. But after retirement, they find another job, saying that they cannot pass the time sitting idle. This means they somehow want to waste this precious human body until death. They have not properly understood the very purpose of human life. This is carelessness.

The Vedas say, na śva: śva: upāsīta - don't procrastinate devotion for tomorrow; who knows if you will live to see tomorrow. Prahlad said, kaumāra ācaret prājño dharmān bhāgavatāniha - one should start bhakti in childhood itself - even if it is for just one or two hours, one must start. The Mahabharat says, yuvaiva dharmaśīlasyāt - as soon as youth begins, one should turn towards God because youth is very dangerous, as it is full of pride. In youth, people ridicule and laugh amongst each other when they hear about God and saints.

Thus, stop procrastinating and start sadhana immediately, because we don't know when we may lose this invaluable human body.
