Daily Devotion - FEB 05, 2026 (English)- The Magic Works
We have taken a human form countless times and seen Shri Ram and Shri Krishna, but their magic did not work on us. This is because our heart was filled with worldly attachments, maya, and infinite sins. The magic worked on Brahma, Shankar, and great paramahamsas such as Shukdev, Janak, and Sanakadik, but it did not work on those bound by maya. The reason for this is that our mind is not pure.
The one whose mind becomes 100% pure gets captivated by Shri Krishna the moment he sees Him; they get enthralled. They get looted. What is the meaning of being looted/captivated? It means that whatever they had, God took them all away and gave Himself to them in return. Meaning God took away the infinite sins and virtues accumulated from countless births, the three karmas (sanchit, prarabdha, kriyaman), the three bodies (gross, subtle, causal), the five afflictions(love, hatred, fear of death, ignorance and pride), the three sorrows (physical illness, mental illness, forces of nature and by other creatures), the duality of love and hatred, the two mayas (vidya, avidya) - all the maladies due to which we are suffering, God took them all away.
But God has one condition - "I will loot you only if you are ready to be looted, captivated. I will not loot you forcefully.' Only the one with a pure heart will taste the real nectar of the Lord's transcendental body, and just upon seeing Him, he will become a devotee of God and belong to Him forever. What to speak of material pleasures, even the bliss of the impersonal form of God, which Janak had vanished upon seeing Shri Ram. He became enamoured with God's names, forms, pastimes, qualities, and abode, leaving behind the trance of formless Brahm.
In other words, if you desire to experience the magic of Shri Krishna upon you, then you must surrender to Him 100% (māmekam sharanam vraja) and, through bhakti, purify your mind. Then God's magic spell will work on you.
