Infinite births have passed by. Why?
Because, in every stage of our life (childhood, youth, old age, etc.), we kept thinking the same thing - 'I will do sadhana later,' but we ended up dying without doing sadhana.
The Vedas caution: na śva: śva: upāsīta ko hi puruṣasya so veda -
O humans! Do not say, "tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow..." Do not postpone sadhana for tomorrow. Who knows if you will even be alive tomorrow? Great rishis, yogis, siddhas, saints - all had to leave when their time came.
Jagadguru Shankaracharya had to leave the world at the age of thirty-two. Gauranga Mahaprabhu left at the age of forty-eight.
Brahma determines our lifespan in the womb itself according to God's instructions. Until a specific date, we are given time to accomplish what we must, just as a student gets three hours to answer questions in an exam. It is up to him whether he solves the entire paper or simply returns an empty sheet. In the same way, we will only receive the fruits of our actions after death.
There will be no hearing - there is no appellate court to appeal to for a second chance.
