The cycle of coming and going in this world -
This is the world - jagat. The word jagat means - gacchati it jagat - that which is constantly moving or changing. Anyone who comes into this world will one day leave, either willingly or unwillingly. There are two ways people depart from this world:
- Those who have not attained God
All such people are sinners, for their mind is impure and attached to the world - whether to possessions, relationships, or status. They do not wish to leave, but they will be forcibly taken away. Because - jātasya hi dhruvo mṛtyu: (Gita) - For one who is born, death is certain. Na jīvo mriyate - The soul itself never dies; it only departs from the world, leaving the body behind. Since these people remain attached to worldly things and refuse to let go, they depart crying. The greater their attachment, the greater their suffering. - Those who have attained God
The body of a God-realized personality is not forcibly taken away. Saints willingly renounce their bodies -
antakāle ca māmeva smaranmuktvā kalevaram।, yaḥ prayāti 'tyajandehaṃ' sa yāti paramāṃ gatim -
"One who remembers Me at the time of death and willingly gives up his body attains the divine abode."
Such souls give up their body out of their own will and depart cheerfully, knowing that leaving this impure, troublesome body is a great relief. They are aware that upon reaching Golok, they will attain a divine body, divine knowledge, and divine bliss - everything divine.
These beings are of two kinds:
- Gyānīs: They attain liberation and merge into Brahm. They never return.
- Devotees (Bhakt): They return to this world repeatedly, according to God's will, for the welfare of other souls. However, they come and leave voluntarily. They are not bound by the scriptures, the Vedas, or the laws of Yama. They move in and out of this world freely, by their own divine will.
