From Mind Mess to Divine Rest — Roopdhyan Tips by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj!
Roopdhyan is the primary sadhana, though doing sankirtan along with it is good. However, we face a problem when doing Roopdhyan. In place of God, due to past habits, wherever the mind is more attached, the mind goes there.
When this happens repeatedly, one should neither become angry nor disappointed. Anger causes the downfall of the mind and makes it further agitated. We cannot do sadhana even if we get disappointed (nirutsaahasya deenasya). Always remember that we have achieved everything we have learned in this world only after much practice, and we made many mistakes along the way. From a child in first grade to Brihaspati, the preceptor of celestial Gods, everyone makes mistakes. No one is omniscient, though we don't admit our mistakes due to false pride.
Hence, wherever the mind goes, let it go. It will stop in one place. Have Shyamsundar stand in that place. By repeatedly practicing this, the mind will find Shyamsundar following everywhere. Thus, it will not go towards the world. The mind will get attached to Shyamsundar (māmanusmarataścittaṃ mayyeva pravilīyate).
When the mind can get attached to insentient things in this world, like tea or alcohol, why can it not get attached to God? He is an ocean of bliss. Repeatedly contemplate - He alone is mine. Happiness is only in Him. He is the soul's sole relative. We are not the body; we are the soul. He alone is our well-wisher. The rest are all indirect enemies.
When you repeatedly practice this and start experiencing bliss, you will move forward very easily.

How do we know where we stand spiritually? One cannot determine this on their own. The mind, which experiences ups and downs, can never pass judgement against itself. In other words, our mind is flawed, yet we are asking that same mind, "Am I flawed?" It will naturally
