Introduction

As a tribute to our Gurudev - Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, and to honour the profound wisdom of the text – Prem Ras Madira.  A three-day event was meticulously planned that would showcase the wisdom and divine qualities of this sacred text to a global audience

The celebration was held from October 8 to 10, 2025, marking a significant milestone in honouring Prem Ras Madira and its spiritual legacy. This sacred text, Prem Ras Madira, comprises 1008 devotional poems divided into 21 chapters. Each chapter is dedicated to a distinct facet of devotion, offering unique insights and perspectives into the path of spiritual love.

Every poem in this compilation is characterised by eloquence and harmony, and each is skillfully set to Indian classical rhythms by Shri Maharaj Ji Himself. Through this musical transformation, the poems evolved into melodious devotional songs, whose profound beauty often moves listeners to tears.

To showcase the depth and richness of Prem Ras Madira during the three-day event, one song from each chapter was selected and performed. This approach ensured that all 21 chapters of the scripture were highlighted, providing the audience with an immersive experience and fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of the divine beauty and expansive wisdom contained within this revered text.

The concert was broadcast worldwide via YouTube and the KripaluNidhi App, ensuring that devotees and seekers everywhere could join in the festivities, regardless of their location.

8 October 2025 – Day One

On this day, devotees gather at the back entrance of the chanting hall, Bhakti Bhawan. A grand stage was prepared, adorned with a large LED TV as the backdrop, encircled by beautiful red curtains with gold trimming. A prominent banner was displayed with the event's name and branding, along with images of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj (Shri Maharaj Ji). A second LED TV was positioned on the lower right side of the stage, facing the area where the devotees and Didis—Manjhali Didi and Chotti Didi—would be seated.

Didis arrived and proceeded to their designated seats. The gathering's attention was called through the microphone, with words glorifying God and Guru. All attendees stood for the morning aarti, marking the formal commencement of the program.

Devotees who were performing in the concert wore saffron attire in honour of the occasion: boys and men in saffron shirts and pants, while girls and women donned saffron-colored saris. The five main lead singers took their place on a higher platform on the stage above the chorus group and the devotees playing various instruments.

The concert began with all devotees joining their hands in prayer and offering praise to their Gurudev. Following this, a video, narrated by Manjhali Didi, was presented on the LED screen. She echoed Shri Maharaj Ji, words,

“I was inspired to write these poems by the grace of Shri Radharani, and I dedicate the 1008 poems in this sacred text to Shri Radharani and Shri Krishna.”

As the video progressed, a moving explanation of the author's calibre and the hidden secrets of the compositions was revealed to the viewing audience.

The narrator continued to explain the importance of human birth, “It is a universal truth that every individual seeks happiness and strives to avoid sorrow in life. This profound desire for lasting joy can only be fulfilled through the realisation of God. The sacred scriptures emphasise that both happiness and the attainment of God-realization are possible solely through the guidance of a true saint.”

Furthermore, the narrator elaborated, “The greatest saints are those who walk on the path of Madhuriya bhav—accepting Lord Krishna as their beloved and loving Him selflessly. Teachings and texts authored by such saints are considered to be the most authentic sources of spiritual wisdom.

Among the saints of this era, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj (Shri Maharaj Ji) holds a place of the highest reverence. Three rare and significant qualities distinguish the sacred scripture authored by Shri Maharaj Ji:

First, it is firmly rooted in the principles of the Vedas.

Second, it provides explanations that are accessible and easily understood by even the most ordinary reader.

Third, it is composed scientifically, allowing aspirants to systematically progress from the beginning of their spiritual journey to its culmination.”

Chapter - Aarti Maduri

The first chapter of Prem Ras Madira is titled ‘Sadguru Madhuri,’ but it is customary to start any event or program with the aarti of Yugal Sarkar. For this reason, the aarti of the divine couple was sung from this chapter first as a sign of respect. Performing aarti and prayer for a devotee is essential, especially in the current age of Kali Yuga, because aarti helps calm the restless mind and provides great spiritual rewards.

Shri Maharaj Ji's aarti poetry is unique because it focuses solely on glorifying the divine beauty and qualities of God, without any desire for worldly gains. This makes the aarti not just a ritual but a valuable tool for enhancing meditation on the divine.

The Yugal Sarkar Aarti beautifully highlights the adornments and radiant beauty of Shri Radha and Shri Krishna, helping devotees visualise the divine couple clearly in their minds, which enriches their meditation and devotion.

Yugal Sarkar Aarti

Aarati preetam pyaari ki, ki banavaari nathavari ki.

Let us perform Arti of beloved Shri Krishna and exceptionally sweet Shri Radha,

whose favourite ornament is a nose ring.

Duhuna sira kanaka mukuta jhalakei,

Duhuna shruti kundala bhala halakei,

Duhuna driga prema sudha chhalakei,

Chaseele beina, raseele neina, gaseele seina,

Duhuna meinana manahaari ki, ki banavaari nathavaari ki.

Shri Radha and Krishna are gorgeously adorned with dazzling golden crowns.

Their earrings are moving to and fro, beautifully.

Sweet nectar of divine love is overflowing from their eyes.

Their talks are fascinating, Their eyes are full of nectar,

Their glances are heart-piercing.

Their beauty attracts even Cupid (a celestial god of beauty).

Duhuna driga chitavani para vaari,

Duhuna lata latakani chavi nyaari,

Duhuna bhaun matakani ati pyaari,

Rasana mukha paana, hansana musakaana, dasana damakaana,

Duhuna besara chhavi nyaari ki, ki banavaari nathavaari ki.

I sacrifice myself on Their bewitching glances. The beauty of Their curly hair is exceptional. The movement of their eyebrows is striking. The beauty of the red juice of betel leaves on their lips, sweet smile and luminous teeth is captivating. What to say of the beauty of the nose-pearl, which is really unique.

Eka ura peetaambara phaharei,

Eka ura neelaambara laharei,

Duhuna ura lara motina chhaharei,

kankanana khanaka, kinkinini jhanaka, noopurana bhanaka,

Duhuna runa jhuna dhuni pyari ki, ki banavaari nathavaari ki.

The yellow silky shawl is nicely fluttering on the chest of Shyam Sundar; on the other hand, a blue saree is adorning the body of Shri Radha Rani. Pearl necklaces adorn the upper bodies of both of them. The jingling of their bracelets, the tinkling of their waist-belt, and the rattling of Their anklets are creating a most attractive combined sound, which is extremely enthralling.

Eka sir mora mukuta raajei,

Eka sira choonari chhavi chaajei,

Duhuna sira tirachhe bhala bhraajei,

Sanga braja baal, laadilee laal, baanha gala daal,

‘Kripalu’ duhuna driga chaari ki, ki banavaari nathaavari ki.

A crown decorated with peacock feathers embellishes the head of Shri Krishna, and a chunari beautifies the head of Shri Radha Rani. The heads of both are slightly leaning on each other’s heads. A group of gopis is standing around them, and They are standing, putting their arms around each other. Although this scene is really spectacular, what to say of that rapturous scene when they look intently into the eyes of each other!

Chapter - Sadguru Madhuri

There is no distinction between God and Guru; they are the same. Recognising this unity, we feel compelled to offer ourselves completely to our Gurudev. It is by His guidance and grace that the path of devotion is revealed to us, i.e. to love the Divine Couple, Shri Radha and Krishna.

Even if we were to study the scriptures countless times, without the Guru's guidance, we would not be able to fully grasp the profound truths they hold, making it impossible for us to take even a single step towards realising God.

This principle is also emphasised in the Shrimad Bhagwatam, which states that progress on the spiritual path is unattainable without surrendering to the lotus feet of the Guru.

With deep reverence and gratitude for our spiritual master, let us glorify our Guru by singing the poem presented in this chapter.

Jaun guru Charan Kamal Balihar

Guru charaṇ kamal balihār, guru par tan man dhan vār.Guru charaṇ dhūri sir dhār, guru mahimā aparampār.
I sacrifice myself at the lotus feet of my spiritual master and I offer my mind, body and all my possessions to Him. With deep respect, I apply the foot dust of my Guru to my forehead. The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Sadguru bhaj Nandkumār, Hari bhaj sadguru sarkār.Dou kah dou prāṇ hamār, guru mahimā aparampār.The Guru adores Nandkumar Krishna, and Krishna adores my Guru. Both Guru and Krishna say that they are the life breath of each other. The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Guru rah ur Nandkumār, guru ur rah Hari rijhvār.Dou karuṇā kō bhaṇḍār, guru mahimā aparampār.Guru resides in the heart of Nandkumar Krishna, and Krishna resides in the heart of Guru. Both Guru and Krishna are the ocean of compassion. The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Guru chah sukh Nandkumār, guruvar sukh chah rijhavār.Hari guru dou prāṇādhār, guru mahimā aparampār. The Guru always desires Krishna's happiness, and Krishna is happy in the Guru's happiness. Both Krishna and Guru are the life of my soul. The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Guru mile kṛipā rijhvār, guru kṛipā mile sarkār.Dou kṛipā roop sākār, guru mahimā aparampār.A soul finds Guru with the Grace of Krishna, and one finds Krishna with the Grace of a Guru. Both my Guru and Krishna are the personified form of Grace. The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Guru kah bhaju Nandkumār, guru kahaṁ bhaju kah rijhvār.Dou dāsya dharm ur dhār, guru mahimā aparampār.Guru teaches the souls to surrender to Krishna, and Krishna tells the souls to surrender to Guru. A devotee should wholeheartedly serve both. The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Guru patitan soṁ kar pyār, Hari nirmal jan ko yār.Yah antar sujan vichār, guru mahimā aparampār.Guru embraces fallen souls, while Krishna Graces only those souls whose hearts are fully purified. O souls! understand the above difference (between Guru and Krishna). The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Yah hai bhavasindhu apār, nar deh nāv anuhār.Nāvik sadguru sarkār, guru mahimā aparampār.This cosmic ocean of maya is limitless, and the human form is like a boat that can enable a soul to cross it. Guru is like the helmsman of this boat (helps the soul to cross this mayic ocean). The glory of my Guru is boundless.

Jo samajhā de śhruti sār, ur bharā prēm rijhavār.Soi hai sadguru sarakār, guru soi 'Kṛipālu' sarkār.
A true Guru is the one who can give clear knowledge of the scriptures and whose heart is always filled with the Divine love of Krishna. Jagadguru Shree Kripalu Ji Maharaj says that such a Divine personality is the true spiritual master who graces the souls.

Chapter - Siddhant Madhuri

According to our scriptures, faith is a fundamental requirement for anyone who wishes to progress on the path of devotion. A devotee must possess the unwavering faith that the path they are following is indeed the correct one. This steadfast belief is crucial, as both faith and devotion serve as protective forces on the spiritual journey.

Even a brief exposure to negative influences or an unfavourable company can significantly hinder a person's advancement in devotion, potentially causing them to falter or lose their way. The stories of Saubhari Muni and Jadbharat serve as prominent examples of individuals who, despite their dedication, experienced a downfall due to such bad associations.

To help aspiring devotees fortify their faith and deepen their understanding of divine philosophy, Shri Maharaj Ji composed a collection of poems in this chapter. These verses, focused on Siddhant (spiritual principles), are intended to support and inspire those walking the devotional path, ensuring their faith remains strong and unshakable.

Milta Nahin Nara tanu Barambar

Milata mahin nara tanu barambara

This human body is not obtained frequently.

Kabahunka kari karuna karunakara, de nrideha sansara

In a very rare occurrence, the Merciful Lord, by his causeless mercy, gives the soul a human birth.

Ulato tangi bandhi mukha garbhahin, samujhayehu jaga sara

In the mother’s womb, God hangs the soul upside down with its mouth closed, to make it realise the true nature of the world.

Dina gyana jaba kina pratigya, bhajihaun nandakumara

When the suffering inside the womb becomes unbearable, God bestows knowledge, and the soul makes a resolve, “Please get me out of this terrible prison. I promise, I will worship you and you alone.”

Bhuli gayo so dasha bhai puni, jyon rahi garbha majhara

But after birth, the soul forgets its vow and undergoes the same pitiable condition in its present life as it was in the womb.

Yaha ‘Kripalu’ nara tanu suradurlabha, Sumiru Shyama Sarakara

Says Shree ‘Kripalu’ “, Even the celestial Gods beg for a human body. Realise its value before it is too late and engage yourself in the loving remembrance of the Merciful Lord, Shree Krishna.”

Chapter - Dainya Madhuri

Humility is the essential foundation for anyone seeking to embark on the path of devotion. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu emphasised the teaching that one must be more humble than a blade of grass and more tolerant than a tree. This profound level of humility is not just an ideal, but a prerequisite for spiritual progress.

The journey of devotion truly begins when we learn to respect others without expecting anything in return. It is only when we let go of our expectations and offer respect selflessly that the spiritual path unfolds before us.

Recognising and accepting our imperfections is another vital step. If we acknowledge that we are sinners and, with sincere faith, call out just once to Shri Radharani and Shri Krishna, believing wholeheartedly that they hear our prayers, the merciful Lord will leave his divine abode in Golok and come running to us.

In the 105 poems in Dainya Madhuri, Shri Maharaj Ji urges us to renounce our ego and cultivate genuine humility. Through his verses, he encourages us to call out to Shri Radharani and Shri Krishna with heartfelt humility, tears in our eyes.

Aho Hari Ohu din kaba aihain

aho hari! ohu dina kaba aihain

Oh Lord! When will that day come?

gavata guna gopala nirantara, drigana ashru barasaihain

When singing Your glories constantly, will I shed tears of yearning for Your divine vision and love?

roop madhuri nishi dina dhyavata, mana bhringi bani jaihain

When will my mind be absorbed in the sweetness of Your beautiful form to the degree that it identifies itself with You completely, just as an insect appears to turn into the ichneumon wasp bhringi

baat nihari tihari pala pala, kalapa samana janaihain

When will I yearn for Your divine vision, with each moment passing like an era?

haya! haya! kari ita uta bhajata, nija tanu sudhi bisaraihain

When will I run here and there, calling out to You in the agony of separation from You, completely oblivious of my body?

yaha 'kripalu' jiya parama bharoso, kabahun to hari apanaihain

Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj says, "I live with the firm faith that my merciful Lord will one day make me His own."

Dham Madhuri

God’s names, forms, pastimes, qualities, and divine abodes are inherently non-different from one another. Meditating again and again on any of these aspects serves to purify the heart, bringing the devotee closer to spiritual realisation. This unity means that contemplation of the divine names or forms is the same as contemplating God's divine abodes or pastimes.

The spiritual benefit of visiting the divine abodes, such as Vrindavan Dham, is realised when visited in the company of a God-realized soul or with unwavering faith that Shri Radharani and Shri Krishna performed countless pastimes, walked, roamed, and played in this sacred land. This faith allows the devotee to experience the abode’s divinity more profoundly.

Vrindavan Dham is the eternal home of the divine couple, Shri Radha and Shri Krishna. In this transcendental realm, even inanimate objects pulse with life. A perpetual spring blesses the land, and Shri Radharani reigns as its beloved queen.

Chalo Man Shri Vrindaban Dham

Chalo man shri vrindavan dham

O, my mind! Let’s reside in the divine abode of Shri Vrindavan Dham.

Jah viharat nagari aru nagar, kunjani aantho yaam

Where the Divine couple Shri Radha Krishna eternally perform various divine pastimes in the beautiful groves.

Bhukh lage to rasikan jhootani, khai lahiye vishram

If you get hungry, eat the remnants of the rasik saints’ meal and achieve supreme satisfaction.

Pyas lage to tarani tanuja, tath pivu salil lalaam

If you get thirsty, drink the sweet water of the river Yamuna.

Neend lage to jayi soi rahi, latan kunj abhiram

Whenever you feel sleepy, lie down in the shade of one of the beautiful groves of flowering creepers.

Braj ki renu renu lakhi chinmay, tanmay rahu aviram

Seeing the divinity in each and every particle of the Braj, remain engrossed in the remembrance of the Divine couple Shri Radha Krishn.

Pai ‘Kripalu’ man jani yaha bhuliya, bhav rahe nishkaam

Says Shri Kripalu ji, “but never forget! O mind, the most important thing is that your loving sentiments should be absolutely selfless."

Chapter - Prem Madhuri

While scholars, or gyanis, delve into the vastness of the Vedic scriptures in search of the Supreme Lord, the all-powerful Lord Shri Krishna manifests himself in a much more intimate and accessible form. The very Lord praised by the Vedas as the Supreme is seen as the beloved son of Yashoda Rani. In the simple courtyard of her home, He is not the distant Divine but rather a playful child, bound by a rope to a wooden mortar (ookhla), crying before His mother. This touching scene reveals a profound truth: even the sovereign of countless universes can be bound by the power of pure, selfless love.

Shri Maharaj emphasises that those who find this difficult to accept should journey to the sacred land of Braj to witness it firsthand. There, these divine pastimes are not merely stories but living realities, experienced by devotees throughout the ages. It becomes evident that love, when free from selfishness, even holds sway over the Divine. To convey and deepen these emotions, Shri Maharaj composed the poems found in this chapter, inviting us to experience the essence of selfless devotion for ourselves.

Dhanya Prem Gopijan Tribhuvan

Dhanya prema- gopījana tribhuvana,

pūrana brahma jāsu bharamāvata

(A rasik Saint says:) Glory to the love of the Gopis in the entire creation (tribhuvan) that has indebtingly encharmed the absolute brahm, Krishn.

Jo asaṅkhya brahmāṇḍa sṛjata so,

braja ahīra naṃdapūta kahāvata

(Such is the greatness of Gopis' love that:) The One who creates the (entire universe with) uncountable brahmandas, is only called the son of Nandbaba of Braj (which is only a district in India)

Jinakī neku yogamāyā te,

jagata niyantrita iti śruti gāvata

A mere touch of Whose yogmaya (the supreme personal power) controls and manages the whole universe, as sung by the Vedas.

Unako mahari pakari kara-aṅgurina,

nija āṅgana calibo sikharāvata

Mother Yashoda, holding the finger of the same brahm, Krishn, in her courtyard, is teaching Him how to walk.

Jinakī kṛpā-kora bidhi, hari, hara,

koṭi kalpa tapa kari nahiṃ pāvata

A ray of Whose Grace, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv cannot receive even after doing devotional austerity for millions of kalpas.

Unako jhaṭaka paṭaka godī te,

bhauh tāni naṃdarāni ruāvata

Mother Nandrani, scolding the same brahm, Krishn, and angrily putting Him down from her lap, is making Him cry in tears.

Jinakī nāma guṇāvali līlā,

bhava bandhana chana māhiṃ chuṭāvata

The potency of Whose names, virtues and leelas releases the eternal bondage of maya of the souls in a moment.

Unako mātu bāṃdhi ūkhala te,

lai sāṃṭī kara ati ḍarapāvata

Mother Yashoda, tying up the same brahm, Krishn with the huge wooden pounding pot (ukhal), is scaring Him with a stick in her hand. (This happened when once young Krishn ate some soil, but He denied it to His mother.)

Jinakī ati vicitra māyā te,

nāradādi ko jñāna bhulāvata

Whose extremely powerful and amazing maya confounds the great rishis like Naradji etc.

Unako dekhiy braja murali hita,

gopina āge haga jhari lāvata

The same (all-knowing, all-pervading) brahm Krishn, in Braj, is ignorantly crying before the Gopis and asking them as to who has taken His flute.

Jinakī bhṛkuṭi takati bani dāsī,

so māyā jo sabahiṃ nacāvata

Whose powerful maya dominatingly governs all beings (from humans to gods) in its realm, and always fearfully looks to Him like a meek and most obedient maidservant.

Unako aba 'kṛpālu' rādhe jū,

krīta dāsa kari paga paluṭāvata

Our Radhey Rani has made (the same supreme God) Krishna, Her eternal servant, Who always presses Her feet most happily.

Chapter - Shri Krishna Bal Leela Madhuri

According to the instructions of Shri Maharaj Ji, it is essential to incorporate kirtan in our sadhana. The main purpose of engaging in kirtan is to support our practice of roopadhyan, the meditation on the divine form. Kirtan acts as the life force of Kripalu Bhaktiyoga Tattvadarshan, infusing our spiritual journey with energy and devotion.

Our minds often tend to wander and become restless, but they can easily get attached to the innocent and playful pastimes of baby Krishna. The all-powerful Shri Krishna, who graced this world by incarnating as a human and assuming the form of an infant, utilised his private power called yogamaya, which led Him to temporarily forget His divine nature. In this endearing human form, Shri Krishna participated in simple yet delightful pastimes. He joyfully played with His cowherd friends, and whenever He noticed His mother holding a thin stick, He would tremble in fear. To delight the cowherd women and earn their buttermilk, He would dance charmingly for their enjoyment. These delightful pastimes naturally capture our hearts and minds, offering us joy and spiritual fulfilment.

With this understanding, Shri Maharaj Ji designed this chapter to help devotees immerse themselves in the sweet and captivating pastimes of Shri Krishna the child, thereby deepening their experience of devotion and joy through the practice of kirtan.

Chalata Sakhi, Latapatata Nandlala

chalata sakhi! latapataat nandlaal

O Sakhi! Baby Krishna takes His first staggering steps

haule haule dharani dharata paga, bhole se gopal

Innocent Krishna is placing each step on the ground slowly, walking with great care

chalata chalata chhuti jaat peet pat, hansati sabei braj baal

As He walks, His peetambar falls off, causing all the Gopis to laugh!

puni puni pahiravati peetambar, yashumati hoti nihaal

Mother Yashoda, beside herself with joy, keeps putting the peetambar back on Him, every time it falls off

jahan dekhat maati chupke te, daarat mukh tatkaal

Whenever He sees some mud, He promptly puts it in His mouth with great stealth

tarjani te 'kripalu' darpaavat, mukh maati lakhi gwaal

Shri Kripalu Ji says, "Seeing Him putting mud in His mouth, the cowherd boys threatened Him, shaking their forefingers"

Conclusion

Prem Ras Madira offers devotees a deeply enriching spiritual experience by beautifully recounting the cherished pastimes of their beloved Lord. The poems are infused with sweetness and devotion, serving as a source of spiritual nourishment, akin to divine nectar. Just as devotees find sweetness and devotion, yogis will find the wisdom of the Vedas in this sacred text.

However, due to our inherent limitations and ignorance, fully grasping the depth and beauty of the poetry can be a challenge. The poems are layered with meaning, revealing their richness only upon thoughtful reflection and multiple readings.

As Shri Maharaj Ji has explained,

“The poetry in this text is complex. After you read it two or three times, you may start to understand it. Each line holds a profound meaning. If I hadn’t revealed its essence to you, you might have dismissed it as just ordinary poetry.”

The program concluded with Shri Maharaj Ji’s profound words, leaving everyone deeply moved and inspired. We now eagerly anticipate the upcoming event scheduled for October 9, 2025.
