It was an extraordinary day filled with deep devotion and heavy hearts. Devotees from every corner of the globe, as well as local participants, gathered at Kripalu Dham for a momentous occasion—the immersion of flowers belonging to our beloved Badi Didi into the sacred waters of the river Ganga in Shringverpur.

Everyone rose early at 1:00 AM, preparing for their journey to Shringverpur. While the rest of the world lay in slumber, the atmosphere at Kripalu Dham buzzed with a different energy.

By 2:00 AM, everyone was out and about, greeting each other with Radhe Radhe and walking toward their designated vehicles, like chariots of devotion, that stood ready to whisk them away to the sacred Shringverpur.

When we finally arrived in Shringverpur and stepped out of our taxis, the sky opened, sending drizzle down like tears from the heavens. It felt as if the clouds themselves were joining us in honouring our beloved Badi Didi, and every droplet of rain mirrored the sadness in our hearts. Each of us felt the weight of the moment as we walked toward the banks of the river Ganga.

The site had been prepared beautifully, with carpets and a tent, ensuring that the devotees were comfortable as they gathered. As they settled down on the sacred ground of Shringverpur, a melodious echo of Hare Ram kirtan and Radhe naam sankirtan filled the air, purifying both their hearts and the surroundings. During the chanting, the expressions on the devotees' faces varied; some gazed at the exquisitely decorated altar adorned with images and cutouts of our beloved Badi Didi, Gurudev Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj and Radha Krishna. Others sat with their eyes closed, tears streaming down their cheeks, overcome by a profound yearning to reunite with Badi Didi. Each individual, in their own way, was holding onto the memory of her, reluctant to let go—some found solace in her beautiful images, while for others, the most cherished picture remained tucked away in their hearts.

While the devotees continue to immerse themselves in the divine name, they eagerly anticipate for the two Didis to arrive in the gloomy weather, which resonates with their emotions.

Our two beautiful Manjhai Didi and Chhotti Didi, under whose guidance the entire program was organised, left Kripalu Dham at 3:00 AM, arriving at Shringverpur by 3:45 AM. As the devotees caught sight of the two Didis at the venue, a wave of joy washed over everyone, and everyone honored our Gurudev and our Badi Didi by calling out Jai Jai Shree Radhe!

Chhotti Didi, gracefully seated in a wheelchair, held the divine urn belonging to Badi Didi in her lap. Following her was Manjhai Didi, accompanied by their divine family members: Chotta Bhaiya, along with his wife, daughter and son, Ramanand Bhaiya, Sita Bhabhi, their two children, Love and Kush, as well as Krishanand Bhaiya and Premanand Bhaiya.

Chotti Didi carefully placed Badi Didi’s urn on the altar and paid her respects by bowing before it before stepping back. Following her lead, Manjhali Didi and the other family members also offered their respects. Didis, along with the family, settled under the tent as the naam sankirtan chanting continued, filling the air with devotion and warmth.

After a few minutes, we gathered to light our diyas in the aarti trays, honouring our Gurudev, Badi Didi, and the sacred place of Shingvarpur by performing the Ram Chandra aarti and our Jagadguru aarti dedicated to our Guru Dev. As the aarti unfolded, it was touching to see the longing and tears in the eyes of Manjhali Didi and Chhotti Didi, who deeply missed their beloved sister. Together with them, all the devotees felt the absence of Badi Didi, cherishing her memory in their hearts.

After the aarti, we gathered to honour our Badi Didi by offering our respects. We bowed our heads before her sacred urn, expressing our reverence with folded hands and a lovely garland of jasmine flowers that we placed around her urn. A deep sense of sorrow enveloped everyone, creating a somber atmosphere.

Then Ramanand bhaiya settled onto the floor in front of the altar, ready to perform the pooja for our beloved Badi Didi. We stood quietly, captivated by the rhythmic chanting of sacred verses that floated through the air. The priest guided this pooja, his voice strong and melodic. It was a mesmerizing scene, blending devotion and tradition.

As the pooja concluded, we followed our two Didis and the divine family, along with the preachers, into the beautifully decorated grand boat. Chotti Didi once again was holding the urn in her arms as her wheelchair entered the boat.

Didi ensured that everyone was seated comfortably before asking for the boat to be untied from the shore. It’s truly remarkable that even in the middle of such a sad and heart-wrenching event, the two Didis remained focused on our comfort and well-being. They lost their beloved older sister, who had been a mother figure to them and to us. Everything felt different after our Shri Guru Dev and Guru Maa—whom we affectionately called Amma—left us and returned to their divine abode.

Badi Didi kept us united, providing the same love and guidance as Guru Dev and Amma, and helping us stay devoted. Now, with Badi Didi’s departure to the divine abode of Golok. Both Manjhali and Chhoti Didi are doing exactly what Badi Didi did for us. It was comforting to know that they were carrying forward the legacy of love and support that Badi Didi had given us.

As the boat descended into the heart of the river, its ordinary appearance transformed into divine, illuminated by the company we were surrounded by. Chotti Didi took the microphone and led us in a joyful Jai ghosh. The atmosphere was filled with the chanting of kirtan. Then, Didis, the family, preachers and devotees came closer to the edge of the boat, preparing to immerse Badi Didi’s sacred ashes into the river Ganga; it felt as though the river Ganga was eager to embrace Her.

A wave of sadness and grief washed over us, magnifying the pang of separation when the ashes were poured into the river Ganga.

All these while we held onto a piece of Badi Didi in the form of her ashes, reluctant to let it go, even as we understood the necessity of this farewell. They say saying goodbye is difficult, but to say goodbye implies that between us lies a promise of reunion. A question burned in the hearts of every devotee – Badi Didi, when will we meet again and behold that radiant smile that illuminated each of our lives?

After immersing Badi Didi’s ashes into the sacred river, both Didis retreated to the covered section of the boat, their faces reflecting profound sadness. Chotti Didi clutched her handkerchief, tears streaming down her cheeks as the tiny cloth absorbed all her emotions. Meanwhile, Manjhali Didi fought back tears, trying to stay strong for us and hide the emotion in her beautiful, kohl-lined eyes.

Just a few minutes later, to uplift everyone’s mood, Didi, despite not feeling physically fit, graced us by throwing Ganga water on everyone, and we had a mini-Holi session on the boat. Badi Didi’s divine ashes were immersed in the river, and now we were being blessed with the same water. Now, we could again touch and embrace her in the form of the divine water, enveloping us with her divine touch, without distinguishing who was deserving and who was not deserving. This shows their unconditional and unbiased grace upon us.

Once Didi stepped off the boat, the grace continued to flow; both Didi's began pouring the water from the river Ganga over the devotees who had watched the flower immersion ceremony from the shore. Their divine grace enveloped all of us, reminding us of their boundless nature. To truly experience this grace, one only needed to be present and open oneself to the nectar that was flowing throughout this beautiful event.

Then, finally, it was time to leave the blessed land of Shingvarpur. We again turned around and took a final look at the Ganga River, and at ourselves; we were drenched in the same divine water, which now holds our beloved Badi Didi within her.  At the altar, Badi Didi’s photo seemed to reassure us with her gentle smile, almost as if whispering: “I am not gone. Close your eyes and call for me --- you will find me in your heart.”
